Since co-founding Horizon in 2010, Mike has led Horizon’s completion of over 20 sell-side M&A transactions — approaching $1 billion in total value — for bootstrapped technology companies. Recent noteworthy transactions include top decile revenue multiple outcomes in each of Spotify’s and Silversmith Capital’s majority recapitalization of DistroKid, Euronet’s purchase of XE, and Ziff Davis’ acquisition of Ookla (company behind Speedtest.net).
Mike has earned numerous industry honors for innovation in transaction strategy, process, and structuring. These include a number of deal of the year awards as well as distinction as an Emerging Leader (M&A Advisor) and Rising Star (M&A Atlas Awards). In 2020, Mike was named Boutique Investment Banker of the Year by the M&A Atlas Awards and has garnered further recognition for leading the execution team that added the the most value per transaction from 2019-2020 (Boutique Investment Banking Team of the Year).
Mike co-founded Horizon from Hillhouse Capital Advisors, a boutique financial services firm that he founded to serve bootstrapped technology companies. Prior to Hillhouse, Mike was among the first employees at a Silicon Valley investment bank, playing an important role as the firm more than quadrupled revenue and tripled team size. He holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management, graduating with Distinction in Finance & the Law. He received a B.A. in Finance from the University of Utah where he graduated with highest honors.
